This is Us!

"This is Us" today as we get ready for our wedding on May 8th where we look forward to celebrating it with family &amp; friends. It has been a great journey for us these past nine years and we are excited to continue it in the years to come. Here are just a few pictures and captions that give some insights into our past, the common bonds that we share, and why we have been so happy together!

We first met on Friday evening, May 12, 2017. We were both out for an early dinner and drinks with friends. when we noticed each other from across the room. After exchanging a few glances, Charlie finally walked over to introduce himself. What started as a simple hello quickly turned into hours of effortless conversation. We spent the rest of the evening talking and laughing, and from that very first night, it felt like something special had begun.Just a month late in June 15, 2017 we were celebrating Charlie's birthday together - the moment captured in the photo here. Looking back now, that night was only the beginning of a story that would grow into a lifetime together.

In The Beginning!

Nikki and I got engaged on September 7th, 2023. We were vacationing and looking for properties in Daytona Beach the week of Labor Day. I proposed to her on the rooftop of our hotel with the ocean in the background. This also started our quest to find a place on the beach for our retirement days. We looked up and down the East and West coasts of Florida for the next two years where we landed on the Tampa/Clearwater area. We will be renting a beachfront condo in the Sand Key/Clearwater area later this year as we dip our toes into retirement and see what it’s like to move from Ohio and live on the beaches of Florida.

Age is Just a Number!

We are both in our 50s today, sometimes we're asked "when are we going to grow up", and we simply laugh &amp; smile us as we enjoy traveling, sporting events, concerts, dressing up for events, and doing the things we both enjoyed as kids and young adults. This keeps us active, feeling young, and together we are always having fun! We support one another in everything we do, have great family support from our parents and children, and we are thrilled to be bringing everyone together with this marriage.

Our wedding party will be small, two people each for the Bride and Groom. Nikki's Maid of Honor will be her long-time friend Teri Hasenfratz and her Bridesmaid will be Liz Bode, another long-time friend. Charlie's best man will be his father, Charles Sr (aka Skip), and the Groomsman will be his son Ryan.

We have a block of rooms reserved at the Fairfield Inn. The hotel is 5 minutes from our house as well as 5 minutes from the wedding venue. It is across the street from Hamilton Square which is a complex of stores and restaurants. The block of rooms are available from Thursday (5/7) thru Sunday (5/10). You can book one night to three for this discounted rate. Shuttle service is also available and we will be coordinating service to and from the venue Friday night (shuttle will leave the hotel at 5p on Friday night and will return guests at 11p). Note: our block of rooms and pricing will be good through April 7th, 2026. On April 8th the hotel will release all unused rooms and any bookings after the 7th will be based on availability where pricing will be at the retail rate. Among the facilities at this property are a 24-hour front desk and an ATM, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The property has a business center and a concierge service for guests. Breakfast is included with the rate and includes a buffet with continental and American options. The hotel has an indoor pool, fitness center and hot tub. John Glenn Columbus International Airport is 6.2 miles away. For guests traveling from out of town there are many great places for you to visit during your stay. The hotel block at the Fairfield is more for convenience as it's 5 minutes from the wedding venue. If you are considering other options, and are not familiar with Columbus, here are a few recommendations: 1) Easton Town Center - see attached link for all this area has to offer. There are numerous retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and things to do. If you're looking to spend some time shopping, want an extensive list of restaurants, and be in a place that is open and fairy vibrant then this could be the location for you. It is only a 15 minute drive to our wedding venue and it is 5 minutes from the Airport. <a href="https://eastontowncenter.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Welcome to Easton Town Center | Columbus, Ohio</a> 2) Downtown Columbus &amp; The Short North - if the City lights are your preference and you want to be in the heart of the city then we recommend you stay downtown and close to the Short North area (High Street). Like Easton, there are numerous hotels, restaurants, stores and activities. The Short North is known for its small boutique stores, and spending an afternoon walking High Street is always a treat as you venture in and out of stores, bars, and restaurants. Ohio State campus is just a few miles north of town and German Village is just a mile south of town (if you are looking to explore). Our wedding venue is roughly 25-30 minutes from the City. <a href="https://shortnorth.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Home Page - Short North, Columbus Ohio</a> 3) The Polaris Area - located north of Columbus, this location offers the large Fashion Place Mall as well as numerous restaurants, shopping and hotels that are located near the mall. From this location you can venture in downtown Westerville and take in small boutique stores and restaurants. This location is a little more spread out than Easton and not as busy as the City. The Polaris Mall is roughly 15-20 minutes from our wedding venue. Travel Ideas

Registry

Our Wedding Ceremony will be outside and we will move indoors for Cocktail hour and the Reception. We would like our guests to be dressed nicely and given the time of year the weather could be warm or chilly. This is why we have chosen the attire to be either Semi-Formal or Cocktail. For the men - no jeans please and ties are optional. For the women - weather permitting the ceremony will be outside and on the lawn. Please consider this with your shoes and dress.

Nikki and Her Family 

Nikki's parents are John and Kay Alm. She has one younger brother Josh, and two boys - Taylor and Bailey. Taylor is engaged to Shelby and they are expecting a baby boy in July. Bailey is married to Maddy, and Maddy is expecting a baby girl in late April.

Charlie and his Family

Charlie's parents are his mom Arlene, his father Skip (aka Charles Sr) and his stepmother Betsy. His sister Elizabeth is married to Shaun, and in loving memory we remember his brother Dan and sister Pam who are with us in spirit. He has three children - two girls (Julianne &amp; Kailee) and one boy (Ryan). Ryan is married to Ruby and they have a three-year old little girl named Meghan.

Our Family

We would like to say that your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift we could ask for. As we have already established our home together, we have chosen not to create a registry.
